SYSTEMIC PSYCHOTHERAPIST

I am a certified Systemic Family Psychotherapist with a background in Clinical Psychology and Narrative Therapy. I am a full member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and of the Association of Family Therapy (AFT), and a member of the EMDR UK. I speak both English and Portuguese fluently.

As a systemic and family psychotherapist I have a special interest in couple and family therapy as well as working with people on an individual basis. I originally trained as a clinical psychologist before specializing in systemic family psychotherapy. I have been working with children, teenagers, families, and adults for over 15 years in both statutory and voluntary settings. ​​ Alongside my private practice, I continue to work for the NHS as a systemic and family psychotherapist.

Starting therapy can be a big decison, it can be confusing to understand the different types of therapy available and to work out which one might be right for you.  Whilst there is a lot of research about what specific interventions tend to be more helpful for certain types of difficulties, a significant body of research also points out that the most significant factor in whether people find therapy useful is the relationship that they can forge with their therapist.
